Mnemonic Tools
Here is an example of a “mnemonic” tool (a tool used to help someone in the memorization or memory of something) for the memorization of the New Testament books of the bible.
“The New Testament Brew…”
Matthew made his Mark first, and Luke made his before John. Acting on the a-Romans in the air, the first second the Corinthians remembered God Endorses Percolated Coffee they had five cups of tea (via the Thessalonians groups, Timothys and a Titus) with Philemon because Hebrews it with James. They invited Peter twice and John three times, and Jude just showed up before they all had a Revelation.
From this story you can recall:
Matthew (made his)
Mark
Luke
John
Acts
Romans (aromas)
1 & 2 Corinthians (the first second…)
Galatians (God)
Ephesians (Endorses)
Philippians (Percolated)
Colossians (Coffee)
1 & 2 Thessalonians (five cups of “T”)
1 & 2 Timothy
Titus
Philemon
Hebrews (”he brews it…”)
James
1 & 2 Peter (Invited Peter twice)
1, 2nd & 3rd John (Invited John three times)
Jude
Revelation
This is an example of a mnemonic device to remember the books of the New Testament. You can of course, come up with your own. If you’d like to earn an extra point towards your grade in the First Principles course – bring a printed out example of your mnemonic song/story/etc for the New Testament or the Old Testament memorization. Have fun with it!
