One Out of Ten

INTRO
Q.) What is the last thing you remember saying “thanks” for, or you expressed gratitude for?
Q.) What is something you should have said “thanks” for, but did not?
Q.) Have you ever had to thank someone for saving your life or have you ever “almost died?”
- Explain
- How did you feel afterward?

Luke 17:11-13
Q.) What is leprosy like? Back then? Imagine the smell. Imagine the loneliness. Imagine the despair…the utter hopelessness and sense of doom…
Q.) What did they ask Jesus for? Why?
Q.) Have you ever felt hopeless before? Have you ever felt like you could never change?

Luke 17:14
Q.) Does Jesus “work a miracle” here? Does he touch them? What did they do? He told them to go show themselves to the priests … why did they go?

Luke 17:15-16
Q.) How did this man feel? Why? Why does the Bible note that this is a Samaritan? (Explain Samaria and half-breeds and Jews views on it…).

Luke 17:17-19
Q.) Why did Jesus ask this question? Who do you think he asked it of? (Jews? All those standing there?)
Q.) What did this Samaritan’s healing cause the Samaritan to do? Gratitude caused him to “praise God in a loud voice” … does not say he “thanked God” in a loud voice - but:

Psalm 69:30 “I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.”

Q.) What did Jesus call this man? (”Foreigner”). Why did he point this out?
Q.) Did you ever feel like a foreigner at church? I know I did.
Q.) What are some things we can worry about?
Q.) What was one thing you were worried about recently?
Q.) How did worrying about it help/hinder you?

Philippians 4:4-7
Q.) What does this verse mean?
- Have someone read it and skip reading “with thanksgiving” - what happens to this scripture?
- What would it be like to have a “thanksgiving meal” without “thanksgiving?”

Q.) Why bring thanksgiving to God?
Q.) What is the “peace of God?” What do you think is like? Have you had it lately? Why? Why not?

To deeply understand the peace of God, we have to understand him! Hear His Word and study the bible!
